During our Your Voice, Your Vote campaign, we’re encouraging our customers and employees to make their voices heard by casting their vote on election day 2020. The first step is registering to vote. If you’re a first-time voter or you’ve moved since the last time you voted, you may need to register with your state. This process takes just a few minutes to complete. In some states, you can register online, while in others you’ll need to mail in your registration form or visit a government agency. In a few states, you can even register in-person on election day.
To help you take this crucial first step on the path to making your voice heard, we’ve compiled a list of voter registration information by state. You’ll find details on eligibility to register and how to register. Just scroll to your state to get started!
Alabama
To be eligible in Alabama, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States.
- Live in the State of Alabama.
- Be at least 18 years of age on or before election day.
- Not be barred from voting by reason of a disqualifying felony conviction.
- Not have been judged “mentally incompetent” in a court of law.
How to register to vote in Alabama:

Alaska
To be eligible in Alaska, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Live in the State of Alaska and have been a resident of the state and of the election district that you seek to vote for at least 30 days before an election
- Be at least 18 years of age or within 90 days of your 18th birthday
- Not be a convicted felon involving moral turpitude, unless your voting rights have been restored
- Not be registered to vote in another state unless you are willing to cancel your registration in that state

Arizona
To register in Arizona, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of Arizona and your county at least 29 days preceding the next election
- Be 18 years old on or before the next general election
- Be able to write your name or mark, unless prevented from so doing by physical disability
- Not have been convicted of treason or a felony (or have had your civil rights restored)
- Not currently be declared an incapacitated person by a court
How to register in Arizona:

If you are eligible to vote in Arizona and you have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and/or an Arizona non-operating I.D. card issued by the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD), you can register to vote online.
By Mail
You can print off a form online (PDF) or request that a registration form be mailed to you from your County Recorder. After completing the voter registration form, mail it to your county recorder’s office.
In Person
You can visit your County Recorder’s Office and fill out a registration form in person.

Arkansas
To register in Arkansas, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Live in Arkansas at the address in Box 2 on the application
- Be at least 18 years old before the next election
- Not be a convicted felon (or have completely discharged your sentence or been pardoned)
- Not claim the right to vote in any other jurisdiction
- Not previously be judged mentally incompetent by a court of competent jurisdiction

To register in California, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of California
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of the next election
- Not be imprisoned or on parole for the conviction of a felony
- Not currently be judged mentally incompetent by a court of law

In Person
You can choose to pick up a paper voter registration application at any Department of Motor Vehicles field office, and many post offices, public libraries, and government offices, or request one from your county elections office.

Same-Day Registration

To register to vote in Colorado, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of Colorado 22 days prior to Election Day
- Be 18 years old on or before Election Day
- Not be serving a sentence of detention, confinement

- A Colorado Department of Motor Vehicle office when you apply for a driver’s license, or when updating your driver’s license information
- Offices that provide public assistance, including offices that provide state funded programs primarily engaged in providing services to person with disabilities
- Recruitment offices of the armed forces of the United States
- Any federal, state, or local government office or any nongovernment office that chooses to provide voter registration service or applications
- A voter service and polling center
- A voter registration drive

To register in Connecticut, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of Connecticut and of the town in which you wish to vote
- Be 17 years old. 17-year-olds who will turn 18 on or before Election Day, may participate in the general primary.
- Have completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a felony, and have had your voting rights restored by Registrars of Voters

To register to vote in Delaware, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a permanent resident of Delaware
- Be at least 18 years old on the date of the next general election
- Not be mentally incompetent
- If you are a felon, you are eligible to vote as long as you have served your sentence (including parole) and your convictions were not for disqualifying felonies: murder and manslaughter (except vehicular homicide), sexual offenses, or crimes against public administration involving bribery or improper influence

To register in Florida, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a legal resident of both the State of Florida and of the county in which you seek to be registered
- Be 18 years old (you may pre‑register if you are at least 16)
- Not be adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other State, or If you have, you must first have your voting rights restored
- Not be a convicted felon, or if you are, you must first have your civil rights restored if they were taken away
- Swear or affirm the following: “I will protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Florida, that I am qualified to register as an elector under the Constitution and laws of the State of Florida, and that all information in this application is true.”

If you are eligible to vote and you have a valid Florida driver’s license or ID card, you can register to vote online.
In Person
You can choose to register in person at any county Supervisor of Elections office, local library, or any entity authorized by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to issue fishing, hunting, or trapping permits. The form contains detailed information as to how to submit the form to your county Supervisor of Elections. If you are a military or overseas U.S. citizen, you may register to vote and request a vote-by-mail ballot at the same time by using the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). - Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you want to vote
- Be at least 18 years old within six months after the day of registration, and be 18 years old to vote

- Not have been judicially determined to be mentally incompetent, unless the disability has been removed

To register in Louisiana, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of Louisiana (Residence address must be address where you claim homestead exemption, if any, except for a resident in a nursing home or veteran’s home who may select to use the address of the nursing home or veterans’ home or the home where he has a homestead exemption. A college student may elect to use his home address or his address while away at school.)
- Be at least 17 years old (16 years old if registering in person at the Registrar of Voters Office or at the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles), and be 18 years old prior to the next election to vote
- Not currently be under an order of imprisonment for conviction of a felony. (If you are under an order but have not been incarcerated within the last five years, you ARE eligible to vote unless your conviction was for election fraud.)

- Be a citizen of the United States

- Not have been convicted of a felony, either in Nebraska or another state or in federal court; you cannot register to vote until two years after the completion of your sentence including any probation or parole term

To register in New Hampshire, you must:
- Be a resident
- Be 18 years of age or older on the day of the next election
- Be a United States citizen
There is no minimum period of time you are required to have lived in the state before being allowed to register. You may register as soon as you move into your new community.

To register in New Mexico, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of the State of New Mexico
- Be 18 years of age at the time of the next election
- Not have been denied the right to vote by a court of law by reason of mental incapacity
- Not be currently incarcerated or serving parole or supervised probation for a felony conviction (or if you have been convicted of a felony, have completed all the terms and conditions of sentencing, have been granted a pardon by the Governor, or have had your conviction overturned on appeal

New York
To register in New York, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of the county, or of the City of New York, at least 30 days before an election
- Be 18 years old (you may pre-register at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18)
- Not be in jail or on parole for a felony conviction (unless parolee pardoned or restored rights of citizenship)
- Not currently be judged incompetent by order of a court of competent judicial authority
- Not claim the right to vote elsewhere

North Carolina
To register in North Carolina, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of North Carolina and the precinct in which you live for at least 30 days prior to Election Day
- 16- and 17-year-olds may preregister to vote, but cannot vote until they are 18 (17-year-olds may vote in a primary election if they will be 18 at the time of the general election)
- Not be currently serving a felony sentence, including probation, parole, or post-release supervision

North Dakota
In order to vote in North Dakota, you must be:
- A citizen of the United States
- Eighteen years or older on the day of election
- A resident of North Dakota
- A resident in the precinct at least thirty days immediately preceding any election
- Able to provide a North Dakota driver’s license, nondriver ID, or tribal ID that includes your current residential address and date of birth. (If an individual’s valid form of identification does not include all the information required in subsection 2 of NDCC §16.1-01-04.1, or the information is not current, the identification must be supplemented by presenting any of the documents as outlined in subsection 3 of NDCC § 16.1-01-04.1.)])

Ohio
To register in Ohio, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be at least 18 years old on or before the next general election
- Be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 days immediately before the election in which you want to vote
- Not be currently incarcerated (in jail or prison) for a felony conviction. If you are an ex-felon and not currently incarcerated, you are eligible to vote in Ohio but you MUST re-register.
- Not have been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court
- Not have been permanently denied the right to vote for violations of election laws

To register in Oklahoma, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of Oklahoma
- Be 18 years old on or before the date of the next election
- Be a “bona fide” resident of the State of Oklahoma (A person is a “bona fide” resident of the State of Oklahoma if he or she has an “honest intent to make a place one’s residence or domicile, a conscious decision to make a location an individual’s home.”)
- Have not been convicted of a felony and not completed the sentence including any term of incarceration, parole or supervision, or probation
- Not now be under judgment as an incapacitated person, or a partially incapacitated person prohibited

To register in Pennsylvania, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States at least one month before the next election
- Be a resident of Pennsylvania and your election district at least 30 days before Election Day
- Be at least 18 years of age on the day of the next election
- Not be incarcerated after conviction for a felony (your voting rights are restored immediately after incarceration)
- Not have been convicted of violating any provision of the Pennsylvania Election Code within the last four years

Rhode Island
To register in Rhode Island, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of Rhode Island
- Be at least 16 years of age (you must be 18 years of age to vote on Election Day)
- Not be currently incarcerated in a correctional facility due to a felony conviction
- Not have been lawfully judged to be mentally incompetent

Same-Day Registration
Rhode Island allows for same day voter registration for the Presidential Election only. If you miss the voter registration deadline, you can register to vote on Election Day, but you will only be able to vote for President and Vice President. You will not be able to vote in any state, local, or other federal races. You can only register and vote on Election Day at the location designated by your local board of canvassers.

- You must have fully discharged your punishment, including any incarceration, parole, supervision, period of probation, or be pardoned
