October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign designed to increase awareness and education about breast cancer. In support of the cause, many people around the country volunteer or fundraise. This year “volunteering” may look a little different than before, but National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.® (NBCF) is still working diligently to provide opportunities to help those affected by breast cancer. From online donations to sharing your own story of how you or a loved one has been affected by breast cancer, NBCF offers many ways to support the fight against breast cancer virtually. If you’re looking for a way to get involved, here are a few places you can start:
Snapshots of Hope
Many people get involved with NBCF because of their own experience dealing with breast cancer, or because one of their loved ones has been affected by breast cancer. By sharing your story or that of someone you love you can give support, strength, and encouragement to those currently facing breast cancer as well as their families.
NBCF will regularly share Snapshots of Hope on their social media platforms during the month of October, spreading the stories of those affected by breast cancer and shining light on their journeys. If you’re interested in sharing a story, visit the Snapshots of Hope page, complete the form, and upload a picture. NBCF may feature you on their Facebook and Instagram channels.
Host A Fundraiser
Fundraisers may not be able to take the form of formal gatherings this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t host your own fundraiser for breast cancer. NBCF has helpful tips and resources for individuals, businesses, and students looking to raise funds to provide breast health education and early detection services to people throughout the country.
There are plenty of creative ways to make your fundraisers unique and invite others to join in by donating. A birthday fundraiser can be an excellent way to channel gift-giving into support for a worthy cause, while shaving your head in solidarity with breast cancer survivors is a bold way to show your commitment and inspire friends and family to donate. Social media is an excellent alternative to spread the word about your fundraiser and thank friends who have given their support.

Become A Community Ambassador
Awareness is one of the most important factors in the fight against breast cancer and sharing breast health information can help save lives. The more educated people are about the risks of breast cancer and the importance of having access to mammograms, the sooner people can get diagnosed. By becoming a Community Ambassador, you can work closely with NBCF to spread awareness in your community.
Community Ambassadors will receive breast health training, coordinate awareness and fundraising events, and recruit other volunteers to the cause. Community Ambassadors can also work with breast cancer patients and survivors to provide them and their families with support, hope, and community. If you’re interested in becoming a Community Ambassador, you can get involved and apply today!
